3 – Russia Reverses Gas Flow Via Key Pipeline Serving Europe
The Daily Caller reports: Part of a key pipeline transporting natural gas from Russia to Europe suddenly reversed its flow direction Tuesday, Reuters reported.

Flows in the Yamal-Europe pipeline, which sends natural gas to Germany via Poland, were recorded going eastward away from Europe on Tuesday morning, data from the European firm Gascade showed, Reuters reported, citing data from German network operator Gascade. Flows leaving Germany were moving at a whopping 4.3 million kilowatt-hours per hour at one section of the pipeline.

The pipeline is operated by the Russian state-owned energy giant Gazprom and is one of three routes the company uses to export natural gas to western Europe. The Yamal-Europe pipeline is responsible for 10% of the region’s natural gas supplies, meaning a substantial flow shift could lead to much higher energy prices for many European consumers.

Overall, Russia is responsible for approximately 47% of European gas imports, the most recent Eurostat data showed.

4 – Never Let a Crisis Go to Waste: Biden Urged To Use Ukraine as Excuse To Advance Green New Deal Through Emergency Order
The Free Beacon reports: President Joe Biden’s sweeping ban on Russian oil and gas has prompted liberals to argue that he should further extend his executive powers and declare a national climate emergency.

In the past week, op-eds in the Nation and the Hill have argued that Biden should make use of the National Emergencies Act and the Defense Production Act to aggressively regulate the supply and demand of U.S. energy and move the nation off fossil fuels. Both articles reference climate reports published in February, when Russia invaded Ukraine, and echo a claim made last week by Biden that the invasion “should motivate us to accelerate the transition to clean energy.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) first introduced legislation to declare a national climate emergency in July 2019. Shortly after Biden was inaugurated in January 2021, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) also urged the president to declare one. Environmental groups have long advocated for the move.

The authors of the Nation op-ed, Jean Su and Maya Golden-Krasner, write that the president must withstand the pressure amid Russia’s invasion to increase U.S. oil production, adding that “exploiting crises to push for more oil production has long been a favorite trick of the fossil fuel lobby.”

5 – British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Remove Mask Mandates on Flights
Breitbart reports: British Airways has become the world’s first major airline to remove mask mandates onboard the aircraft for passengers from Wednesday, in a move shortly followed by Virgin Atlantic.

Britain’s second-largest airline firm announced on Tuesday that they will no longer require passengers to wear masks on board their planes and will instead allow people to “make a personal choice” on the matter.

Yet, British Airways did note that there will be an exception for flights to countries with their own “restrictions and legal requirements,” which currently includes nations such as the United States.

Virgin Atlantic also announced that they will be dropping mask requirements, albeit with a more graduated approach, by starting with removing mask requirements for passengers travelling between London or Manchester and the Caribbean from Wednesday.

“As we learn to live with Covid and with the legal requirement to wear a face mask now removed in England, we believe our customers should have the personal choice whether to wear a mask on board, on routes where international regulations around mask-wearing do not apply,” said Corneel Koster, Virgin Atlantic’s chief operating officer.
