Biden’s sinking ship, inflation, school bus driver shot, and more…
By Team DML
Today is February 10 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion.
1 – SINKING SHIP: Biden’s approval dives into uncharted territory for the first time in his presidency
Fox News reports: Approval of President Biden’s performance in the White House continues to weaken as the administration works to deal with the Ukraine border conflict, rising inflation, the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and chaos at the Mexican border.
For the first time since taking office, Biden’s approval rating — based on an accumulation of polling data — fell below 40%. A Real Clear Politics average of all the most recent national surveys measuring Biden’s standing put the president’s approval at 39% and his disapproval at 54%.
Biden continues to take heat from Americans over rising gas prices, leading his own party to introduce a proposal to temporarily suspend the federal gas tax in order to help blunt the financial pain of surging prices at the pump.
DML: It’s Joe Biden’s Titanic.
CNBC reports: Economists are expecting another hot inflation report, with the headline consumer price index running at a 7.2% pace in January.
CPI is reported Thursday at 8:30 a.m. ET and is expected to show an increase of 0.4%, a slower monthly increase than December, which had a revised headline gain of 0.6%. The year-over-year forecast of 7.2% is the highest since 1982 and is up from 7% in December.
Core inflation, excluding food and energy, is expected to rise 0.4% in January or 5.9% year-over-year, according to Dow Jones. That compares to a monthly increase of 0.6% in December and a year-over-year pace of 5.5% in the final month of last yea
CPI is key for the markets since inflation is seen as a direct trigger for the Federal Reserve’s interest rate hikes, and economists are basing their forecasts for the central bank on how much they think inflation will slow from its rapid pace. The Fed has made clear it will fight inflation, and it is widely expected to raise interest rates multiple times this year, starting with a quarter-point hike in March.

3 – Minneapolis school bus driver shot in head while young children were on board
Fox News reports: A Minneapolis school bus driver was shot in the head Wednesday afternoon while transporting three young children, according to police.
Minneapolis police responded to a report of a school bus driver shot in the area of 37th and Girard Ave N. around 2:16 p.m.
Officers located the driver, rendered aid, and secured the scene, police told Fox News. Paramedics transported the driver to an area hospital. Police said the driver’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Police said the three young onboard the bus at the time of the shooting were each under the age of 10. None were injured and officers dropped them off at their homes.
DML: Appalling! Democrat-run cities are out of control.
4 – Illegal Alien, Wanted for Raping Girls, Freed into U.S. During Obama Years
Breitbart reports: An illegal alien, wanted for raping two young girls in Guatemala, was able to live for nearly a decade in the United States after former President Obama’s administration failed to deport him.
Carlos Horacio Suarez Monroy, a 38-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala, first arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border in 2013 at the start of Obama’s second term, when he sought amnesty for millions of illegal aliens.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials confirmed this week that Monroy had been encountered at the border and was deemed inadmissible by U.S. Border Patrol. Instead of being immediately returned to his native country, Monroy was referred to ICE for deportation but was able to remain in the U.S. for nearly a decade.
On January 20, after having lived in the U.S. for roughly nine years, Monroy was arrested by ICE agents outside of his residence in Winthrop, Massachusetts. He has been wanted in Guatemala for raping two young girls.
Monroy now remains in ICE custody while he awaits deportation.

5 – New Zealand police clash with anti-vaccine protesters at parliament, over 120 arrested
The Guardian reports: New Zealand police began evacuating anti-vaccine protesters from parliament grounds on the third day of their demonstration, with more than 120 arrested after clashes.
Police brought in around 150 extra officers from around the country on Thursday to try to clear the protesters from parliament grounds, where they had pitched tents and parked cars, blocking traffic.
The protesters, inspired by the “siege of Ottawa” where truckers paralysed the city and caused a state of emergency, led a convoy of several hundred vehicles to parliament on Tuesday. A number stayed overnight, pitching tents on the lawns.
Tensions boiled over, as the wall of more than 100 police officers advanced their line a few metres every half hour, ripping out tents as they went.
The police picked people off one-by-one at the front of the line, prompting scuffles to break out, and sparking shouts from the crowd of “shame on you, shame on you!” towards the officers.
DML: People around the world are waking up!
