Agents identified most of the migrants crossing on Sunday evening as Honduran nationals. Some Colombian migrants also crossed.
Independent journalist Ali Bradley reported: TX: The c-wire installed by @TXMilitary soldiers under @GovAbbott. #OperationLoneStar looks to be more of a show than an actual deterrent— Soldier & BP agents escort migrants around the wire as they’re already on American soil and have to be processed under current policies.
Bradley reported: #BREAKING Migrants in “family units” no longer have to say a word to be exempt from #Title42. Per new guidance provided by DHS source—They can verbally or nonverbally claim a “manifestation of fear” & will be processed under #Title8 or go to @USCIS. This goes into effect @ 9pm.
Under the guidance, a migrant who manifests a fear verbally or nonverbally of being returned to their country will not be expelled under #Title42— Nonverbal actions include unusual behavior and silence.
MY TAKE: To repeat Anna Giaritelli’s statement above: “Under Biden the MAJORITY of migrants apprehended illegally crossing the southern border in April were NOT expelled under Title 42. The judge’s decision is not the victory that Republicans claim it is. Title 42 may be on the books, but it’s not the going policy at the border.”
2 – Republicans vow to kill domestic terrorism bill in Senate
The Hill reports: Senate Republicans are lining up against a House-passed bill that would authorize special offices within the government to investigate and monitor domestic terrorism, which is being pushed in the wake of a racist shooting in Buffalo that left 10 people dead.
The GOP compares the proposal, which sets up offices in the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice and the FBI to target domestic terrorism, to the recently paused disinformation board set up by the Biden administration.
“It sounds terrible,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) of the House-passed bill, predicting it won’t get 10 Republicans in the Senate.
“It’s like the disinformation board on steroids. Another way to look at is the Patriot Act for American citizens,” he added, referring to the law passed immediately after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that expanded the government’s power to monitor phone and email conversations and collect bank records.
Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) says he will bring the bill to the floor this week as a response to the killings at a Buffalo supermarket in a predominantly Black neighborhood. The bill passed the House 222-203 on a mostly party-line vote, with Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) casting the only GOP vote in favor.
MY TAKE: The domestic terrorists are BLM trashing cities, domestic terrorists are the ‘smash and grab’ mobs ravaging stores like animals, the domestic terrorists are the thugs killing people on the streets and in the subways. Why isn’t Schumer voting on a “bill” to stop that?!
3 – National School Boards Association demanded Biden use military force, draft letter shows
Fox News reports: Early demands from the National School Boards Association to the White House included calling for the deployment of the Army National Guard and the military police to monitor school board meetings, according to an early draft letter the organization’s independent review released Friday.
In contrast to the final version, the draft of the NSBA letter said, “We ask that the Army National Guard and its Military Police be deployed to certain school districts and related events where students and school personnel have been subjected to acts and threats of violence.”
The NSBA had originally sent a letter to President Biden in September 2021 that asked for parents protesting at school board meetings to be federally looked into, saying school officials were facing threats and violence at meetings. Most significantly the NSBA requested in its original letter that parents’ actions should be examined under the PATRIOT Act as “domestic terrorists.”
Then, on Oct. 4, Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a memorandum instructing the FBI to collaborate with state and local leaders to address “threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff.” He went on to say that this collaboration “will open dedicated lines of communication for threat reporting, assessment, and response.”
The NSBA’s early draft also called parents speaking out “plotters who are targeting schools and educators.”
MY TAKE: See answer above! Parents concerned about their kids and speaking out at school board meetings are NOT the ‘domestic terrorists!’
4 – How Did The Administration Get That So Wrong’: CNN Host Plays Year-Old Clip Of Biden Downplaying Inflation For WH Economic Advisor
The Daily Caller reports: CNN’s Dana Bash grilled National Economic Council director Brian Deese on how the administration got it “so wrong” on inflation during Sunday’s episode of “State of the Union.”
“Let’s talk about inflation,” Bash said. “It is still near the highest levels in four decades. I want to play what President Biden said about this issue almost a year ago compared to what he’s saying now.”
Bash then played a clip from Biden in which he said “the overwhelming consensus, it’s going to pop up a little bit and then go back down.”
“I want every American to know I’m taking inflation very seriously, and it’s my top domestic priority,” Biden said in another instance.
“How did the administration get that so wrong?” Bash then asked Deese.
MY TAKE: When even CNN admits Biden has got it wrong, you know it’s REALLY bad!
5 – Florida health officials investigating “presumptive” monkeypox case
The NY Post reports: Florida health officials are investigating a “presumptive” case of monkeypox — making the Sunshine State the third possible US state to be hit by the disease after cases were reported in Massachusetts and New York City.
The Florida Department of Health in Broward County announced Sunday that the case is related to international travel and the infected person has been isolated.
A specimen from the patient will be sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for confirmation, Health Department spokesman Jeremy Redfern said, the Miami Herald reported.
No additional cases have been identified so far in Florida, but the department is investigating along with the CDC about possible exposure by others, the department said.
MY TAKE: Here they go, trying to gin up panic over the next ‘pandemic.’
