2 – Oscar hosts chant ‘gay, gay, gay’ in attack on Florida parental rights bill
The Daily Caller reports: Oscars hosts Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes repeatedly chanted “gay” onstage Sunday in reference to the Florida parental rights bill.

“We’re gonna have a great night tonight — and for you people in Florida, we’re going to have a gay night,” Sykes said. “Gay, gay, gay.” The audience cheered as the three hosts repeatedly sang the word.

Florida’s H.B. 1557, titled Parental Rights in Education, prohibits classroom discussion about sexual orientation and gender identity to children attending kindergarten through third grade. The bill also requires parental consent for select healthcare treatments and bars school districts from keeping secrets from parents regarding changes to the students’ physical and mental health.

3 – Zelenskyy sets ground rules for peace in Ukraine; Russia censors him
Fox News reports: Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed some of his country’s ground rules for a peace agreement with Russia on Sunday, but Russian authorities moved to censor the interview, perhaps because Zelenskyy also said that while Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed the invasion aims to “denazify” Ukraine, peace talks with Russia have not involved any discussion on Ukraine’s supposed “Nazism.”

Zelenskyy spoke with Russian media outlets, saying that his country is open to guaranteeing Ukraine’s neutrality and its nuclear-free status, but its representatives will not sign any agreement until Russian troops withdraw from the country. The Ukrainian president also said that the entire process hinges on him personally meeting with Putin and the Ukrainian people agreeing to a referendum to change the Constitution – a referendum that cannot take place while Russian troops remain in Ukraine.

“We must have agreements with President Putin. The guarantors will not sign anything if the troops are not withdrawn,” Zelenskyy said, according to the presidential office. A personal meeting would be “enough to start the process of troops withdrawal.”

The president noted that, during peace talks with Russian diplomats, “We do not discuss ‘denazification’ and demilitarization at all. I said that we will not sit at the negotiating table at all if we talk about some kind of demilitarization, some kind of ‘denazification’. For me, these are completely incomprehensible things.”

Putin has attempted to justify his attack on Ukraine as an effort to “denazify” the country, playing on the Russian public’s lingering hatred for the Nazi regime. Yet Zelenskyy is Jewish and had family members perish in the Holocaust. Russian officials have compared him to Jews who were forced to collaborate with Nazis.

The Washington Examiner reports: MacKenzie Scott, the billionaire ex-wife to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has donated a record-breaking sum to Planned Parenthood, the organization revealed Wednesday.

Scott’s $275 million donation is the largest ever received from a single donor in Planned Parenthood’s history, which called it “unprecedented” and “extraordinary.”

In a Wednesday statement, Planned Parenthood Federation of America President and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson said, “We are incredibly grateful for Ms. Scott’s extraordinary philanthropic investment in Planned Parenthood, as a critical part of the public health infrastructure.”

She added: “As we face the most serious attacks on access to reproductive health care that we’ve seen in a generation, we know this moment requires us to be innovative and to double down on our efforts to ensure everyone has equitable access to health care, including abortion.”

5 – Public School Teachers Asked To Examine Culture, ‘Hierarchies’ In Math Class
The Daily Caller reports: Educators at the Iowa City Community School District were encouraged to participate in equity courses that focused on the culture of mathematics, “Herstory,” and queer history, according to documents obtained by a concerned parents organization.

Staff in the district were given a handful of optional training courses to undergo, including programs called “Ethnomathematics: The Study of Math as a Cultural Activity” and “WE ARE EVERYWHERE: Paris is Burning.” The so-called “Ethnomathematics” course examines “mathematics teaching and learning through a cultural lens,” according to documents obtained by Parents Defending Education.

“Educators will approach the mathematics classroom as ethnographers, exploring the origins of our current practices and questioning the hierarchies they produce,” the course description reads.

One training course, titled “Paris is Burning,” examines “protest, power, and pride in queer history and culture. Learners will explore often forgotten Herstory and ideas of intersectionality and discuss topics of race, sexuality, class, and gender discussion focusing on LGBTQIA+,” according to the documents.
