CBC.CA reports: Crowdfunding for organizers of the protests against COVID-19 restrictions in Quebec City was cancelled this weekend after the platform cancelled payments to their site.

The CEO of the website, Simplyk, said donations to the fundraiser were cancelled because the campaign violated the conditions of the site since it is not a non-profit

The funds were previously being collected by Keven Bilodeau, one of the organizers of the protest that lasted for four days in Quebec City and ended on Sunday.

The company didn’t disclose how much money has been raised in total.

3 – Pelosi racks up huge private jet bill while saying climate change poses threat to world
Fox News reports: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has spent over $500,000 on private jets since 2020 despite repeatedly describing climate change as an “existential” threat the U.S. has a “moral” obligation to address.

According to campaign filings with the Federal Election Commission, Pelosi’s campaign paid a Virginia-based private aviation provider, Advanced Aviation Team, over $437,000 between October 2020 and December 2021 and over $65,000 to Clay Lacy Aviation, a California-based private jet provider.

Private jets are notoriously bad for the environment, producing significantly more emissions per passenger than commercial flights. Pelosi’s campaign spent $67,605 on private air travel just months before she said she viewed tackling the climate crisis as a “religious thing.”

“For me, it’s a religious thing,” she said in November after leading a 21-member congressional delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. “I believe this is God’s creation, and we have a moral obligation to be good stewards.”

4 – Long Island parents left baby in car during freezing temperatures to shop
The New York Post reports: A Long Island couple was busted for allegedly leaving their baby in a car in freezing temperatures while they shopped at Target, police said.

Police responded to a 911 call of a baby unattended in a car that was turned off in the parking lot of the Target on Sunrise Highway in Bayshore around 4:20 p.m. Saturday, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Cops said the baby did not appear to be in distress, although temperatures were in the 20s.

The baby’s parents, Paul Albinagorta, 34, and Natalia Pascual, 22, both of Central Islip, returned to the car 10 minutes later, police said. After further investigation, both were arrested.

5 – MORE Democrats pose maskless, and Stacey Abrams receives backlash for posing maskless with room full of young masked children
Fox News reports: Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams is facing backlash over the weekend after she visited an elementary school and posed maskless with a room full of young children who were all masked because of a school mandate.

Abrams visited Glennwood Elementary School outside of Atlanta this past week to kick off the third annual African American read-in, where she met with young students and teachers. The principal, Dr. Holly Brookins, took to Twitter after the visit to post four pictures on her Twitter account of Abrams’ visit, which included three pictures of Abrams without a mask, despite the Decatur City Commission reinstating a mandatory masking ordinance last month.

The picture that went viral was Abrams sitting on the floor with her legs crossed and smiling without a mask on while the dozens of children and adults behind her were all wearing masks. Abrams quote tweeted the picture and told Brookins that her visit was “spectacular, delightful, and outstanding.”

As of Sunday morning, Brookins’ Twitter account appears to be deactivated and Abrams’ quote tweet is no longer on her Twitter account, but that hasn’t slowed down the backlash as the picture spreads across social media.

Fox News reports: Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., was pictured at a New York high school without wearing a mask, while students pictured around him were all masked-up.

The picture was taken during Bowman’s visit to New Rochelle High School on Jan. 31. where he was visiting with students and discussing a recent murder within the community, according to a local newspaper.
