Trump gets a boost, Biden on the beach, Putin buddies up to Kim Jong Un, and more.
Today is August 15. Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.
1 – Trump gets a 10-point bump among Republicans after Mar-a-Lago raid
The Daily Mail reports: Donald Trump has seen his poll numbers improve after the raid at his Mar-a-Lago estate, at the expense of what many see as one of his key rivals in 2024.
The former president’s share of the potential Republican primary voters boosted from 53 percent in mid-July to 57 percent on August 10, according to a Politico/Morning Consult poll. That combines with a six-point dip for his biggest potential rival – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis – who dipped from 23 percent to 17 percent between the two polls.
Those numbers give a 10-point boost to Trump and an overall 40-point lead in a hypothetical primary. Neither man has committed to running in 2024 yet.
The passion shown on behalf of the president’s most ardent fans – visible outside Mar-a-Lago all week – continued to Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey golf club on Sunday.
MY TAKE: That FBI raid has backfired BIG TIME… and it’s time to drain the swamp!
2 – Joe Biden Rides His Bike in Front of Reporters on the Beach, Refuses to Take Questions
Breitbart reports: President Joe Biden rode his bike in front of reporters again on Sunday, this time peddling along the beachfront in front of media cameras on Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
The president, wearing a polo and shorts, rode along the beach front, stopping to visit with some families and children and take selfies with supporters.
Biden was surrounded by Secret Service agents who also rode bikes around him as he slowly pedaled across the sand. Although he appeared in front of media cameras he did not stop to take questions. When reporters asked him if he would talk to them, he replied, “No.”
MY TAKE: This is so embarrassing, there are no words. America has no real leader right now.
3 – Putin says Russia and North Korea will expand bilateral relations, KCNA reports
Reuters reports: SEOUL, Aug 15 (Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin told North Korean leader Kim Jong Un the two countries will “expand the comprehensive and constructive bilateral relations with common efforts,” Pyongyang’s state media reported on Monday.
In a letter to Kim for Korea’s liberation day, Putin said closer ties would be in both countries’ interests, and would help strengthen the security and stability of the Korean peninsula and the Northeastern Asian region, North Korea’s KCNA news agency said.
Kim also sent a letter to Putin saying Russian-North Korean friendship had been forged in World War II with victory over Japan, which had occupied the Korean peninsula.
The “strategic and tactical cooperation, support and solidarity” between the two countries has since reached a new level is their common efforts to frustrate threats and provocations from hostile military forces, Kim said in the letter. KCNA did not identify the hostile forces, but it has typically used that term to refer to the United States and its allies.
MY TAKE: This would have not happened if Trump were in the Oval Office!
4 – Delusions of freedom: Parkland shooter thinks he’ll get out of jail at some point
The New York Post reports: Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz is so delusional, he believes he will get out of jail at some point in the future, according to a mental health expert hired by his defense team.
Cruz, who pleaded guilty to murdering 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018, told Texas counselor Wesley Center last year that he wants to assist those in need after his incarceration ends.
“He had some sort of epiphany while he was in (jail) that would focus his thoughts on being able to help people,” according to transcripts of the jailhouse conversation obtained by the Associated Press. “His life’s purpose was to be helping others.”
Cruz, 23, has already admitted to the slayings and is now in the penalty face of his trial, where jurors will decide is he gets life without parole or the death sentence. Either way, he will never be free.
MY TAKE: Please weigh in on the comments section below. What should the verdict be? Life in prison, or the death penalty?
5 – 10 Percent of Americans Regret Taking COVID Vaccine, 15 Percent Have a New Medical Condition After It: Poll
The Epoch Times reports: Ten percent of Americans who received the COVID-19 vaccine regret having done so, according to a recent poll.
In addition, 15 percent of the 1,038 adults that took the survey said that they have been diagnosed with a new condition by a medical practitioner, weeks or months after taking the vaccine.
Children’s Health Defense (CHD) commissioned the poll two years after the inception of Operation Warp Speed in order to find out about people’s position on the COVID vaccines and their health. The poll, conducted by Zogby Analytics, states that the margin of error is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
“The fact that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports more than 232 million Americans ages 18–65 have taken at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 15 percent of those surveyed report a newly diagnosed condition is concerning and needs further study,” said Laura Bono, CHD’s executive director.
MY TAKE: Personally, I’m glad I’m not included in that poll of regretful people. Instead, I’ve been taking DML CBD for three years, and it is keeping my immune system strong!
