DML Morning Briefing Jan 2
Today is January 2 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion.
1.Jan. 6 committee prepares to go public as findings mount
WASHINGTON (AP) — They’ve interviewed more than 300 witnesses, collected tens of thousands of documents and traveled around the country to talk to election officials who were pressured by Donald Trump.
Now, after six months of intense work, the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection is preparing to go public.
In the coming months, members of the panel will start to reveal their findings against the backdrop of the former president and his allies’ persistent efforts to whitewash the riots and reject suggestions that he helped instigate them. The committee also faces the burden of trying to persuade the American public that their conclusions are fact-based and credible.
But the nine lawmakers — seven Democrats and two Republicans — are united in their commitment to tell the full story of Jan. 6, and they are planning televised hearings and reports that will bring their findings out into the open.
DML: Good heavens, is this Russia Collusion all over again or what! We all know there were some bad apples who did stupid things on Jan 6., but this should be handled in the same manner as any Black Lives Matter riot is handled. Mr. Obama told the black people of this country, specifically those involved in the so-called protests around the nation, to continue with their fight. Are the Obamas investigated? No. Are members of congress investigated, i.e. Rep. Watters? No. It’s the perpetual hunt for Donald Trump’s head to be photographed behind bars. There is no organization more hungry for that photo than the Associated Press.
2.FDIC chair resigns after warning Democrats launching ‘hostile takeover’
Fox News – FDIC Chairman Jelena McWilliams announced her resignation Friday in an open letter addressed to President Biden, just weeks after she warned of a “hostile takeover” of the agency by Democrats.
McWilliams, a Serbian immigrant, has lived in the country for decades and boasts a successful career in law, finance, and banking policy.
McWilliams was appointed to the position in 2018 under former President Trump. Her resignation will be effective Feb. 4.
McWilliams did not provide a direct reason for her resignation in her letter to the president. However, she previously published a December op-ed in which she described a “hostile takeover” of the FDIC by Democrats.
DML: I am not shocked, but her resignation is the exact opposite of what is needed. With her out, they will replace the spot with a radical. Before you know it, banks will be the Democrats next weapon at cracking down on us conservatives for our ideology best described as common sense based.
3. Wow! 1,700 flights ALREADY canceled for Sunday after almost 2,700 were canned on Saturday
DailyMail – The holiday travel nightmare worsened on New Year’s Day with more than 1,700 flights already cancelled for Sunday after more than 2,700 flights were cancelled Saturday due to poor weather conditions and the impacts of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
The total number of cancelled flights since Christmas Eve now totals more than 14,000 – leaving thousands of Americans stranded over the holiday season.
Sunday’s travel chaos stems from key airline hubs including Chicago and Denver, as well as certain airlines which have been left with staff shortages due to COVID.
DML: “Travel conditions” my ass.
4.Younger Americans still more likely than older adults to say there are other countries better than the U.S.
Pew Research – Young people in the United States express far more skeptical views of America’s global standing than older adults. They are also more likely to say it would be acceptable if another country became as militarily powerful as the U.S., according to a Pew Research Center survey of U.S. adults conducted in July.
Overall, about half (52%) of Americans say the U.S. is “one of the greatest countries, along with some others.” Nearly a quarter say instead that the U.S. “stands above all other countries” (23%), while an identical share (23%) says “there are other countries that are better than the U.S.”
Opinions about the nation’s global standing have changed little since 2019. However, the share of adults saying there are other countries that are better than the U.S. is higher than it was a decade ago, with most of the increase coming among Democrats.
DML: Amazing. Democrats and youngsters (who always seem to be liberal) are bitching about the destruction they’ve caused. You can’t make this stuff up. Look at the comment from a lefty in regards to the truth shared by Trump.
5. CNN warns of Omircon with title: “One important — and dangerous — way the Omicron surge is different than previous surges in the US”
CNN – The US kicked off 2022 amid a massive Covid-19 case spike — driven by the highly contagious Omicron variant — that some experts warn will be different than any other time in the pandemic.
“What we have to understand is that our health system is at a very different place than we were in previous surges,” professor of emergency medicine Dr. Esther Choo told CNN on Saturday. “We have extremely high numbers of just lost health care workers, we’ve lost at least 20% of our health care workforce, probably more.”
DML: I will spare you from reading the entire thing. CNN goes on to say the big problem is a lack of hospital staffers. In a lame attempt to position the problem as one that stems from sick nurses and doctors due to omicron, CNN fails to mention how many medical professionals have been removed from their jobs, either by choice or force, because they will not get the useless vaccine that is proving to do little to protect against covid and its various strains. And this is why people do not trust the media, and why they specifically hate CNN.
