Tesla CEO Musk announced last month that he intends to buy Twitter for $44 billion and he’s previously tweeted that one of his main priorities would be to remove “spam bots” from the platform.

Musk, who is expected to serve as Twitter’s temporary CEO if the deal goes ahead, would have to pay a $1 billion breakup fee should he choose to walk away. Musk is worth more than $220 billion.

2 – Pence to campaign for Kemp in Georgia, breaks with Trump
The Hill reports: Former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday announced that he will campaign for Gov. Brian Kemp in his reelection bid in Georgia, breaking with former President Trump who has backed former Sen. David Perdue in the closely-watched primary.

Pence announced he will participate in a May 23 get-out-the-vote rally with Kemp before Georgia’s May 24 gubernatorial primary.

Pence said in a statement that Kemp is “my friend, a man dedicated to faith, family and the people of Georgia.”

Pence said in a statement obtained by the Journal-Constitution that Kemp is “dedicated to faith, family and the people of Georgia.”

The former vice president described Kemp as “one of the most successful conservative governors in America.”

3 – Judge rules whether firm Clinton camp hired to dig up dirt must turn over emails
Fox News reports: GPS Fusion, the research firm Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign hired to dig up dirt on Donald Trump’s supposed ties to Russia, must turn over nearly two dozen emails to special counsel John Durham, a federal judge ruled Thursday.

Those emails – which are largely exchanges between Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman and Fusion GPS – are part of a batch that prosecutors subpoenaed last year.

U.S. District Judge Christopher “Casey” Cooper blocked prosecutors from getting 16 of those emails but allowed Durham to obtain 22. Cooper ruled that the 16 emails in question were protected by attorney-client privilege and attorney-work-product while the remaining 22 were not.

Still, the judge ruled that those emails will not be admissible in the impending trial of Sussman – who is charged with lying to the FBI during a September 2016 meeting – because of the untimeliness of Durham’s request.’

4 – Shanghai Lockdown Causing Global Medical Imaging Supply Shortage
Reuters reports: May 11 (Reuters) – A shortage of dye for medical scans produced by General Electric’s (GE.N) healthcare unit in China is affecting regions beyond the United States with a German hospital warned of a supply squeeze.

GE Healthcare, through a spokesperson, said on Wednesday that the weeks-long outage at the company’s Shanghai production plant due to the city’s COVID-19 lockdown is not only affecting U.S. hospitals but also other world regions it did not specify, though to a less extent.

Some of the largest U.S. hospitals have prepared this week for critical shortages and the GE unit has responded by increasing output of contract agents at its factory in Ireland and sending products by air freight to meet demand. read more

The association of German hospitals told Reuters on Wednesday that one of its members had been alerted by the GE unit that its contrast agent could go out of stock in June, citing the Shanghai outage.

GE said this week the Shanghai facility has now reopened after several weeks of closure due to local COVID policies but is not yet fully up to speed.

5 – Hundreds of Migrants Cross Border into Overwhelmed Texas Border Sector
Breitbart reports: Hundreds of migrants continue crossing the border into an overwhelmed Texas border sector near Eagle Pass, Texas. At one crossing, only two Border Patrol agents were on hand to process more than 100 migrants.

A group of well over 100 migrants streamed across the Rio Grande from Mexico into Texas. A Fox News crew captured the video of the migrants walking up to a gate in the Texas border fencing.

Fox News’ Bill Melugin reported there were only two Border Patrol agents on had when the group crossed. Texas National Guard soldiers deployed under Operation Lone Star stood by to assist. Melugin said the group identified themselves as citizens of Colombia, Cuba, and Venezuela.
