Biden disses Army report, Obama back on stage, university pushes ‘unlearn whiteness,’ and more…

Today is February 11 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion.
1 – Biden REJECTS findings of official US Army investigative report on Afghanistan withdrawal
The Hill reports: President Biden on Thursday said he rejected the findings of an Army investigative report in which military officials reportedly criticized Biden administration officials for failing to grasp the situation in Afghanistan as U.S. forces withdrew.
Asked about the report during an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt on Thursday, Biden said that it didn’t square with his impression of the administration’s handling of the withdrawal.
“No, that’s not that I was told,” Biden said when asked if the details of the investigation, which was reported by The Washington Post, rang true to him. “There was no good time to get out, but if we had not gotten out, they acknowledged we would have had to put a hell of a lot more troops back in.”
The Post reported earlier this week that the Army report stretches thousands of pages and contains sworn testimony from commanders involved in the withdrawal from Afghanistan last summer.
DML: This was a slap in the face to every U.S. military member. Disgusting!
2 – Biden: I Won’t Send in Troops to Rescue Americans from Ukraine, You Can’t Find Them
Breitbart reports: During a portion of an interview with NBC aired on Thursday’s edition of “NBC Nightly News,” President Joe Biden stated that he wouldn’t send American troops into Ukraine to get American citizens out if Russia invades, it wouldn’t be possible to do so and to find people and that he’s “hoping” if Putin does invade, “he’s smart enough not to, in fact, do anything that would negatively impact on American citizens.”
Host Lester Holt asked, “What scenarios would you put American troops to rescue and get Americans out?”
Biden answered, “There’s not. That’s a world war, when Americans and Russians start shooting at one another. We’re in a very different world than we’ve ever been in.”
Holt then asked, “Not even on behalf of simply evacuating Americans?”
Biden responded, “No. How do you do that? How do you even find them? This is not like — I’m hoping that if, in fact, he’s foolish enough to go in, he’s smart enough not to, in fact, do anything that would negatively impact on American citizens.”
DML: And this was a slap in the face to all Americans. Putin is laughing his head off.
3 – Biden’s struggles draw Obama back into the spotlight
The Washington Examiner reports: Former President Barack Obama is ramping up his involvement in Washington politics as a tricky midterm cycle approaches for Democrats a year after his vice president settled into the top job at the White House.
Obama spoke at the COP26 climate conference in November, pushed for Senate filibuster reform in January, criticized Alabama’s redistricting map last week, and spoke to a group of House Democrats on Thursday.
The spate of activity has party boosters expecting to see a more prominent role for the 44th president in 2022.
“You’re going to see more and more of the former president the closer we get to November and the midterm elections,” said Democratic strategist Brad Bannon. “He kept a very low profile to leave the limelight to Biden in his first year, but he is a big political asset for the Democrats, and you’ll see more and more of him.”
On Thursday, Obama posted a video and multiple photos about his own campaign days, as if it’s starting all over again…
DML: He’s getting all practiced up to help Michelle.
4 – Top university ‘retraining’ program wants students to ‘unlearn Whiteness’
Fox News reports: The University of Massachusetts-Amherst is hosting a program intended for White students to become “co-conspirators” for racial justice, and will take time to process “White feelings.”
“White Allies Against Racism: How to be a co-conspirator for racial justice,” is a program being hosted this spring by the University of Massachusetts Amherst Center for Racial Justice and Youth Engaged Research and encourages participants to “imperfectly fight racism every day by unlearning whiteness & putting our power on the line for racial justice.”
The program is open to students and faculty, and the application asks, in part, their race and ethnic identities as well as their history of participating in racial justice efforts.
Participants will “Understand our complicity in white supremacy and deepen knowledge about how it works (at UMass),” “Develop tools for accountability & sustained action to end racism,” and “Be prepared to implement skills in their departments, programs, & areas of influence,” according to a description of the program.
One document explaining why the program uses the term “white co-conspirators” rather than “allies” states that it believes holding time for White people to “unpack, process, and unlearn a lifetime of White supremacist ideology” is critical to furthering racial justice.
DML: Dems are good at one thing – DIVIDING Americans. Unacceptable!
5 – Dem gov thrashed for saying public ‘earned’ freedom from mask mandates
Fox News reports: In his 2022 State of the State address Wednesday, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont joined a handful of fellow Democrats in rolling back some of their coronavirus-era restrictions, saying at one point of the sunsetting school mask mandate, “from a public health perspective, you have earned this freedom.”
“I appreciate the authority you have granted me to keep this state safe for almost two years during the pandemic. But I am even more appreciative of each and every one of the residents who stepped up and did the right thing — for themselves, their families and their communities,” Lamont said from the legislative chamber in Hartford.
DML: I earned my freedom when I was born.
