DML Morning Briefing Jan 8: Dem wants lying to be a crime

By  Dennis Michael Lynch

Today is January 8 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion.

1.Democratic Gov wants to make lying a crime in certain circumstances
Fox News – Washington Democrat Gov. Jay Inslee is calling on lawmakers in the Evergreen State to make it a crime for “elected officials or candidates for office” to lie about election results.

“It should not be legal in the state of Washington for elected officials or candidates for office to willfully lie about these election results,” Inslee said, according to a report from the Seattle Times.

DML: If this was to pass then every Democrat would be in jail. I am all for it.

2.Republicans narrow search for 2024 convention site to four cities
The Hill – Republicans have winnowed down their list of potential host cities for the 2024 Republican National Convention, picking Milwaukee, Nashville, Salt Lake City and Pittsburgh as the finalists.

The narrowed-down list of contenders was first reported on Friday by Politico.

There’s a long list of considerations that go into picking a city to host a national political convention, including hotel availability and financial support. GOP officials are set to travel to each of the prospective host cities over the next few months.

DML: It makes no sense to do it in Salt Lake City or Milwaukee.  I’d pick Nashville or Pittsburgh.  But honestly, I don’t like any of those places as much as I do Tampa.  Allow the cameras to focus on the freedoms we have here in the Sunshine State.  It will help DeSantis get elected.

3.Sinead O’Connor’s 17-year-old son has died two days after he was reported missing
DailyMail – Sinead O’Connor’s 17-year-old son has died two days after he was reported missing, as the heartbroken singer told fans that he had ‘decided to end his earthly struggle’.

The Irish singer, 55, gave a touching tribute to her ‘beautiful’ son Shane, who she shares with her ex, folk singer Donal Lunny, on Twitter as she confirmed the news.

In a devastating tweet, she wrote: ‘My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.

DML: For those of you who do not know, O’Connor is a pop star who’s popularity has faded over the years.  But she is best known for her song “Nothing Compares to You” (video below). As for her son… Mental health is a serious issue that is never addressed correctly, and at the risk of sounding brutally mean I think Sinead should get herself to see a doctor. She doesn’t come off as very stable to me. Prime example is tweet below:

4.Why experts say Alec Baldwin hasn’t handed over his phone
NY POST -Alec Baldwin, who has yet to turn over his cellphone to law enforcement in connection with the law enforcement investigation into the fatal shooting on the set of the movie “Rust, may be holding onto the device for a number of reasons, legal experts told The Post on Friday.

The lawyers theorized that the 63-year old actor may be concerned about the possibility of “incriminating” evidence on the phone— including deleted texts or photos that could hold him in criminal contempt–or may simply want to keep his private conversations out of the public eye.

“There could be incriminating evidence on the phone, or it might be for privacy reasons,” said Kevin Kearon, a former Nassau District Attorney’s Office who’s now a criminal defense lawyer.

“If he deleted text messages or call records then he would face the possibility of criminal contempt,” said Kearon, who works at the Long Island firm Barket Epstein Kearon. “Or if there are personal messages, for example, between he and his wife, it’s not shocking that he wouldn’t want them in the public domain.”

DML: This man is a menace to society and deserves to be held accountable for killing someone with a gun. Negligence. But he won’t be held accountable, and I look forward to seeing him in the summer months when I visit East Hampton.  I will be sure to ask him, “Hey Alec, you ain’t planning on killing anyone today are you?

5.Almost half of reported NY COVID-19 hospitalizations are not due to COVID-19
Fox News – New York Gov. Kathy Hochul released data Friday breaking down COVID-19 hospitalizations by those who were admitted due to the virus and those who were admitted for other reasons but were found to have the illness.

Included in the data was a chart showing “how many hospitalized individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 were admitted for COVID-19/COVID-19 complications and how many were admitted for non-COVID-19 conditions.”

According to the provided statistics, in approximately 43% of hospital admissions “COVID was not included as one of the reasons for admission.”

Such cases totaled 4,928 as of Jan. 7, compared to 6,620 patients “admitted due to COVID or complications of COVID.”

DML: Shocked, nor not? Not. It is not shocking, and I have been saying this for TWO years plus! How about a new study that shows how many people really died of Covid, versus how many people died of other causes but also had Covid in their system. If they did such a report then you’d likely see the total death count drop to 50,000 per year. In other words, Covid is as deadly as the flu.  We do not shutdown, wear masks, or demand vaccinations for the flu.
