Biden impeachment inquiry update; Harvard president plagiarized dissertation; Will RFK Jr. impact the 2024 election?
By Dean (Denny) Daniels – Online

Today is December 12. Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.

1. GOP locks down votes for Biden impeachment inquiry

Axios – House Republicans are securing the support they need to pass a resolution on Wednesday formalizing their impeachment inquiry into President Biden.

Why it matters: Republicans say an official vote authorizing the inquiry will give them stronger standing to enforce subpoenas in coming court battles.

Driving the news: Several Biden-district Republicans who previously voiced skepticism of impeachment told Axios on Monday they plan to vote for the inquiry.

Denny’s Insight: Another step in the right direction. Hunter Biden’s indictments set off the spark to get this impeachment inquiry started. Let’s hope it stays that way…

2. Embattled Harvard president Claudine Gay accused of plagiarism — but stands by her work amid calls for resignation after antisemitism hearing:

New York Post – Embattled Harvard President Claudine Gay is fending off accusations she plagiarized numerous portions of her 1997 Ph.D. thesis in direct violation of Harvard’s academic integrity policies.

Documents obtained by journalists Christopher Rufo and Chris Brunet posted on X juxtapose political scientist Gay’s paper with earlier works of several authors and academic scholars, which in some passages are replicated nearly word-for-word.

Denny’s Insight: This woman is a fraud. Harvard should be ashamed to have her represent their school. Instead, they award her and the antisemitism rhetoric she permits on campus.

3. Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff Botches Hanukkah Story; Deletes Post:

Breitbart – Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, tried to explain the Hanukkah story on Monday — and failed spectacularly.

Emhoff, the first Jewish person in his position, who is helping to lead the White House antisemitism “strategy,” posted a now-deleted explanation that combined elements of several different stories, none of which connected to the other — or made any sense.

Denny’s Insight: More proof that these people are ingenuine phonies.

4. Biden-Trump rematch would be close, with RFK Jr a threat to Biden: Reuters/Ipsos poll:

Reuters – A looming election rematch next year between U.S. President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump would be closely fought, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll found, with both candidates saddled with profound vulnerabilities that could cost them the White House.

Biden, an 81-year-old Democrat, continues to be plagued by voters’ doubts about the strength of the economy, as well as concerns about the security of the U.S.-Mexico border and worries about crime.

Republican former President Trump, 77, faces his own worries, including four criminal trials on a bevy of charges related to his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and his handling of classified documents. A conviction prior to the Nov. 5, 2024, election could cost him significant support, the poll found.

The poll showed Trump with a marginal 2-point lead in a head-to-head matchup, 38% to 36%, with 26% of respondents saying they weren’t sure or might vote for someone else.

Overall, the poll showed deep apathy among many voters at a potential Biden-Trump rematch. About six in ten respondents said they were not satisfied with America’s two-party system and want a third choice.

They may have one, in the form of anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has launched an independent bid. The poll showed that Kennedy, part of the storied political family, could draw more support from Biden than Trump.

Trump’s lead widened to a 5-point advantage when respondents were given an option to vote for Kennedy.

Denny’s Question: I always take these polls with a grain of salt, but do you believe RFK Jr. will be a bigger pull of votes from Biden or Trump? Based on these findings, it points to Biden losing the votes. Could RFK Jr. be the key to defeating Biden?
