DML Morning Briefing 9/29
Today is September 30 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. 1-AOC responds after Biden says Green New Deal ‘not my plan’ during debate
Fox News reports that U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez issued a toned-down reaction Tuesday night after Democratic nominee Joe Biden separated himself from the multitrillion-dollar Green New Deal, her signature legislative proposal.
“The Green New Deal is not my plan,” Biden had responded to an assertion from President Trump during Tuesday night’s first presidential debate in Cleveland, referring to Ocasio-Cortez’s package of proposals for transforming energy production and consumption in the U.S.
“No, I don’t support the Green New Deal,” Biden insisted. “I support the Biden plan I put forward, which is different than what [Trump] calls the Green New Deal.”
Kellyanne Conway, who recently stepped down as White House counselor, tweeted part of Biden’s remarks, which drew out the reaction from Ocasio-Cortez.
“This isn’t news, Kellyanne,” the New York Democrat wrote. “Our differences are exactly why I joined Biden’s Climate Unity Task Force – so we could set aside our differences & figure out an aggressive climate plan to address the planetary crisis at our feet.
DML: That’s called “fake news.” AOC was boiling mad when she heard Biden toss her under the bus. But in an effort not to create divide in her own party, because AOC becomes irrelevant if Biden loses, she played nice. I will say, the two years AOC has spent in government has taught her how and when to strike and when not to. The novice she was two years ago would go after Biden’s gonads for that comment he made.
2-Trump tells Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by.”
Asked by debate moderator Chris Wallace to condemn white supremacists and militia groups, Pres. Trump replies, “Sure, I’m willing to do that.” Wallace responded, “Then do it Sir.” Trump then asked who Wallace was referring to exactly. Without a straight answer form Wallace, Trump randomly picked the “Proud Boys,” a group founded in 2016 by Canadian-British right-wing activist Gavin McInnes. The Proud Boys is often referred to as a far-right group of all white male members who believe in secure borders and law and order. They will often go head to head with Antifa groups and Black Lives Matter to stop the far-left group from carrying out violence. Trump told the group to “stand back and stand by,” and then continued on to blame the city riots unfolding in places like Portland each night on Antifa.
DML: Probably not the best answer in the world for Trump to give on national TV, but in the end the Proud Boys are not burning down cities, beating the crap out of shop owners, and picking fights with white moms who are often referring to as “Karens”, but instead trying to stop Antifa and Black Lives Matter from doing so. If Antifa and Black Lives Matter were to fold up tomorrow, nobody would hear from the Proud Boys.
3-CNN calls presidential debate a ‘s—show’ and a ‘disgrace,’ blames Trump
The anchors of CNN weighed in after the first presidential debate between President Trump and Democratic nomiee Joe Biden on Tuesday night, with one describing their first confrontation as a “s–tshow.”
CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer began the post-debate coverage by declaring it the “most chaotic” debate he’s ever seen, but claiming Biden “clearly showed up” in what was likely a “relief to a lot of the Biden supporters.”
Blitzer’s colleague Jake Tapper held no punches. “That was a hot mess inside a dumpster fire inside a trainwreck,” Tapper reacted. “That was the worst debate I have ever seen and it wasn’t even a debate. It was a disgrace. And it’s primarily because of President Trump, who spent the entire time interrupting, not abiding by the rules that he agreed to, lying maliciously, attacking the son of the vice president, when asked to condemn the white supremacists, he brought up the name of a neo-fascist, far-right group and said ‘stand back and stand by.’ We’ll talk about who won the debate, who lost the debate, but I could tell you one thing for sure: The American people lost tonight because that was horrific.”
CNN chief political correspondent Dana Bash agreed, and took the criticism even further. “You used high-minded language, I’m just gonna say it like it is. That was a s—show,” Bash told Tapper. “We’re on cable, we can say that, apologies for being a little bit crude, but that is really the phrase that I’m getting from people on both sides of the aisle on texts and it’s the only phrase that I can think of to really describe it. And I couldn’t agree with you more, Jake.”
DML: I have to agree, it was a s–tshow, but Trump was no joke. My full take on the debate last night can be viewed via my Facebook LIVE from last night. Get the video on the DML NEWS APP. Download it for free from Apple IOS or Google Play stores. My Facebook LIVE had 14,000 viewers last night. The last time you saw a number that high was at a Trump rally.
4-James Comey to testify before Congress about Russia probe.
Former FBI director James Comey will make his long-awaited appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday to answer questions regarding the FBI’s actions in the early stages of the Russia investigation.
Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has spent months criticizing the bureau for inaccuracies and omissions in court filings used to obtain warrants to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and the FBI’s reliance on ex-British spy Christopher Steele’s dossier, which had been debunked by Steele’s own sub-source during an FBI interview.
Graham has speculated that the lower-level FBI employees who conducted the interview with the sub-source were not the only ones who knew that the sub-source said the information in the dossier was unreliable.
“We’re not going to let the system blame some low-level intel analyst or case agent for defrauding the court,” Graham told Fox News in June. “I believe it goes to the very top, and I’m going to get to the bottom of it and that means Sally Yates and [Rod] Rosenstein, and [Andrew] McCabe and Comey are all going to come before the committee and they’re going to be asked, ‘What did you know and when did you know it?’”
DML: Unlike the s–tshow that was the debate, this will be a Bulls–t show put on my Comey.
5-Conservative law firm sues to block Wisconsin mask mandate despite high coronavirus rate
A conservative law firm is suing to block a mask mandate imposed by Democratic Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers despite a nearly 22% positivity rate for COVID-19.
Attorneys from the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty asked a judge Monday for an immediate injunction to block the rule on facial coverings, which Evers extended until Nov. 21 amid a surge in cases.
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of three Wisconsin residents in Polk County Circuit Court, argues that “the executive branch in Wisconsin is, thus far, completely undeterred by the constraints of state law and must be reined in.”
If the injunction is granted, Evers’s emergency declaration requiring masks or face coverings in public places or where social distancing measures cannot be implemented would be blocked while the case is under consideration, the firm said.
Wisconsin has seen a record surge of COVID-19 infections, with 1,726 new cases confirmed on Monday, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services said.
DML: I am not a face mask user, you know this by now. I have family who have had COVID, friends with COVID, neighbors with COVID, fellow club members who had COVID, and I have not had COVID. I have NEVER ONCE wore a mask, I have been in direct contact with all of these people. Kill the mask mandates and lets move on.
