Today is January 7 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch.

1 – Trump acknowledges end of presidency after Congress certifies Biden win
Minutes after Congress formally certified the Electoral College votes for Democrat Joe Biden just before 4:00 a.m. Thursday morning, President Trump released a statement promising an “orderly transition of power” on Jan. 20.

The president released the statement through Dan Scavino, the White House deputy chief of staff for communications, as Twitter had temporarily suspended his own account.

Statement by President Donald J. Trump on the Electoral Certification:

“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th. I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!”

While speaking at the “Save America” rally in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, President Trump told supporters, “If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore… so we’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue, and we’re going to the Capitol, and we’re going to try to give the Republicans the kind of pride and boldness they need to take back our country.”

DML: I’ll be talking about this on my podcast this morning.

2 – Rudy Giuliani called for “trial by combat”
Breitbart reports: Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani called for “trial by combat” during a speech at the Save America march in Washington, DC in front of the White House protesting the 2020 election.

Giuliani appeared to define the “combat” as a battle of reputations, explaining that he was willing to look like a fool if only to get more transparency of the election process.

“If we are wrong we will be made fools of but if we’re right, a lot of them will go to jail. So let’s have trial by combat,” he said. “I’m willing to stake my reputation. The president is willing to stake his reputation on the fact that we’re going to find criminality there.”

Donald Trump Jr.: Fight like the Democrats do!
Also speaking at the D.C. rally on Wednesday, Donald Trump Jr. referred to Congress voting to certify the Electoral College results, and said, “To those Republicans, many of which may be voting on things in the coming hours: You have an opportunity today. You can be a hero, or you can be a zero. And the choice is yours. But we are all watching. The whole world is watching, folks. Choose wisely.”

“These guys better fight for Trump. Because if they’re not, guess what? I’m going to be in your backyard in a couple of months!… If you’re going to be the zero and not the hero, we’re coming for you, and we’re gonna have a good time doing it. We’ve got to start fighting like the Democrats do!”

DML: I’ll be discussing this on my podcast today.

3 – Lindsey Graham turns away from Trump: ‘Count me out’
After a crowd of protesters broke into the Capitol building on Wednesday, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) said he’s done fighting for President Trump, would not be objecting to the Electoral College results, and declared that Joe Biden is the legitimate president-elect of the United States.

“Trump and I, we had a hell of a journey. I hate it being this way. Oh my god I hate it … but today all I can say is count me out. Enough is enough. I tried to be helpful,” Graham said.

He told Vice President Mike Pence during his Senate floor speech, “Mr. Vice President, just hang in there…you’re going to do the right thing…it is over.”

“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are lawfully elected and will become the President and the Vice President of the United States on January the 20th,” he added.

DML: Good-bye.

4 – House Judiciary Democrats ask Pence to invoke 25th Amendment to remove Trump
The Hill reports: Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Vice President Pence on Wednesday evening imploring him to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove President Trump from office.

Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) shared the letter on Twitter writing, “I am sending a letter with
@RepTedLieu and our colleagues on the House Judiciary Committee, calling on Vice President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Donald Trump from office after today’s events.”

“It is with great sadness that we write to you following the incidents that unfolded at the U.S. Capitol today. As you presided over the U.S. Senate, angry supporters of President Trump attempted an insurrection, illegally storming and breaching the U.S. Capitol building to stop the certification of President-elect Biden’s victory,” the lawmakers wrote.

“Even in his video announcement this afternoon, President Trump revealed that he is not mentally sound and is still unable to process and accept the results of the 2020 election,” the lawmakers wrote to Pence.

“For the sake of our democracy, we emphatically urge you to invoke the 25th Amendment and begin the process of removing President Trump from power. President has shown time and again that he is unwilling to protect our Democracy and carry out the duties of the office.”

DML: I’ll be talking about this on my podcast this morning!

5 – Republican Vermont Governor Demands President Donald Trump’s Resignation
Breitbart reports: Vermont Gov. Phil Scott, a Republican, demanded President Donald Trump resign “or be removed” after protesters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.

After violence and destruction broke out while the Congress was meeting to review and accept Electoral College votes, Scott blamed Trump for the melee and called it “an attack on our democracy.”

“Make no mistake, the President of the United States is responsible for this event. President Trump has orchestrated a campaign to cause an insurrection that overturns the results of a free, fair, and legal election.”

“The fact is the results of this election have been validated by Republican governors, conservative judges and non-partisan election officials across the country. There is no doubt that the President’s delusion, fabrication, self-interest, and ego have led us – step by step – to this very low, and very dangerous, moment in American history. The fabric of our democracy and the principles of our republic are under attack by the President. Enough is enough. President Trump should resign or be removed from office by his Cabinet, or by the Congress.”

DML: This is nuts!

6 – Barack Obama Blames Conservative Media ‘Ecosystem’ After Trump Supporters Storm Capitol
Breitbart reports: Former President Barack Obama blamed conservative media and Republicans after supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the United States Capitol on Wednesday.

Obama said in a statement that Trump incited the violence on Capitol Hill, but he blamed the Republican Party and “its accompanying media ecosystem” for not telling their supporters the truth.

“Their fantasy narrative has spiraled further and further from reality, and it builds upon years of sown resentments,” Obama wrote. “Now we’re seeing the consequences, whipped up into a violent crescendo.”

The former president said that Republican leaders should “choose reality” and stop stoking the “raging fires” of their supporters.

DML: Obama, YOU are to blame for a lot of this!

7 – Scarborough calls for arrest of Trump, Giuliani and Trump Jr. for ‘insurrection against US’
The Hill reports: A furious Joe Scarborough on Thursday dropped an f-bomb on live television while talking about the pro-Trump riots at the U.S. Capitol, calling for the arrests of President Trump, Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump Jr. for insurrection.

The MSNBC host issued a fiery condemnation of the Capitol Police response to the mob while speaking on “Morning Joe,” questioning why the group of predominately white Trump supporters were not forcefully stopped from breaching the complex.

Scarborough then turned to Trump, his eldest son and Giuliani, who held a rally with the same group of supporters just before the crowd stormed the federal building. The host said that their rhetoric contributed to the uprising.

“That’s insurrection against the United States of America and if Donald Trump Jr., Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump are not arrested today for insurrection and taken to jail and booked — and if the Capitol Hill police do not go through every video and look at the face of every person that invaded our Capitol and if they are not arrested and brought to justice today — then we are no longer a nation of laws and we only tell people they can do this again,” Scarborough said.

DML: Arrest?  Seriously?
