DML Morning Briefing Wed. Dec. 8: Hospital fires 100 who claimed religious exemption, AOC makes demands, school’s offensive display with Bible, and more….
By Team DML
Today is December 8 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion.
1– New York Hospital Fires 100 Unvaccinated Employees Who Claimed Religious Exemption
Breitbart reports: Kaleida Health in New York has fired approximately 100 unvaccinated employees who had avoided the vaccine mandate due to religious exemption.
The employees had until Sunday to receive the shot, WIVB reported Tuesday. The healthcare provider detailed the move in a press release Monday:
Kaleida Health today released the following updates regarding COVID-19, the New York State vaccine mandate as well as a response to the anti-mask protests planned in the community:
In accordance with New York State’s vaccine mandate guidelines for healthcare personnel, Kaleida Health today terminated approximately 100 employees who had previously been granted a religious exemption and chose not to receive their initial vaccination dose by the State’s deadline of Sunday, December 5, 2021. Combined with the previous vaccine mandate deadline in November, approximately 200 personnel have now been separated from the organization.
Given the reduction in workforce, the subsequent reduction in staffed beds, the significant rise in COVID-19 hospitalizations across our facilities, and the spike in COVID-19 cases in our region, Kaleida Health is proactively postponing non-essential elective inpatient surgeries at Buffalo General Medical Center and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
DML: Sickening and appalling!
2 – House approves bill to ease passage of debt limit hike, 1 Republican joins Dems in vote
The Hill reports: The House late Tuesday passed legislation that paves the way for Congress to raise the debt limit in the coming days — and prevent an unprecedented federal default — by allowing Democrats to circumvent a GOP filibuster in the Senate.
Lawmakers adopted the measure along party lines, 222-212, with one Republican (retiring Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.)) joining all Democrats in support, as part of a deal struck earlier in the day by Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and his Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
The highly contortionist procedural strategy will empower Senate Democrats to raise the debt ceiling in a subsequent bill without a single Republican vote while liberating GOP senators to oppose that increase in the Treasury’s borrowing authority — a toxic idea in some conservative circles, particularly under a Democratic president — without contributing to an economy-crushing government default.
Tuesday’s vote came just more than a week before a Dec. 15 deadline, when the Treasury Department has warned Congress it will exhaust its borrowing powers and be forced to skip some of its financial obligations. The procedural language allowing Democrats to raise the debt limit by a simple majority is part of a bill that also averts automatic cuts faced by physicians and other medical providers under Medicare.
DML: Kinzinger might as well just join the Democrat Party.
3 – AOC, progressives demand Senate Dem leaders overrule parliamentarian and include amnesty in spending bill
Fox News reports: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and some fellow progressive lawmakers joined a group of protesters outside the U.S. Capitol Tuesday to demand that Senate Democratic leaders ignore their chamber’s parliamentarian and include a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants in the reconciliation spending bill.
“The Senate needs to step up, override the parliamentarian, okay. The parliamentarian is not elected. It is not an elected position and the parliamentarian has been overridden and dismissed in the past,” Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said to a gathering of about 150 activists.
“We will not surrender our power to an unelected parliamentarian,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Our demand is for the Senate to override the parliamentarian, include a full path to citizenship, and send it back to the House.”
Democrats in both the House and Senate see their reconciliation spending bill as a unique opportunity to pass immigration reform. Ocasio-Cortez called it a “ventana de oportunidad” — Spanish for “window of opportunity.”
“We just lived through one, almost two years now, of a pandemic… where our country relied on undocumented people to survive,” AOC claimed.

4 – Hundreds of college professors blast ‘woke’ math movement
The New York Post reports: Hundreds of prominent professors — including top names from CUNY, NYU, and Columbia — have signed a letter blasting the erosion of math rigor in grades K to 12.
Arguing that curtailing advanced math programs puts American kids at a global disadvantage, the coalition called the movement “the height of irresponsibility.”
Some school districts — including in New York — have slowly eliminated advanced math options for some students as a means of easing achievement gaps.
City parents have revolted in several Department of Education schools where administrators discontinued accelerated math options.
Officials at Lab Middle School for Collaborative Studies in Manhattan were forced to reinstate honors math classes after a parental outcry in June.
A total of 746 math teachers and professors across the country signed the new missive, warning that enfeebled math curriculums would have dire consequences down the line.
DML: Liberals want to dumb down Americans – so they can import more foreign workers to take your jobs.
5 – Fairfax County library puts ‘Gender Queer’ and ‘Lawn Boy’ next to Bible in ‘holiday reading display’
Fox News reports: A library in Fairfax County, Virginia, created a book display featuring the notorious books “Gender Queer” and “Lawn Boy” – which parents claim feature pedophilia and obscene material – alongside the Bible but later removed the display after residents called it offensive.
“The Dolley Madison Library holiday reading display was intended to highlight the freedom to read and the fact that many library patrons have more time during the holidays to do so,” Fairfax County Public Library Director Jessica Hudson told Fox News in a statement Tuesday. “It was not the intention of staff to create a display that could be construed as offensive. The display has been removed.”
The display featured gnomes with stocking-style hats paired with books. The gnomes with “Lawn Boy” and “Gender Queer” had bees on their stocking-hats, while the gnome with the Bible had a rainbow-colored hat, along with other rainbow paraphernalia. The display also featured quotes from controversial books, such as Salman Rushdie’s “The Satanic Verses.”
“Lawn Boy,” by Jonathan Evison, includes long sections of a boy reminiscing about explicit experiences he had at 10 years old. “Gender Queer: A Memoir,” by Maia Kobabe, includes photos of sexual acts between a boy and a man. Concerned parents had spoken up at Fairfax County School Board meetings to protest the books’ presence in school libraries, but the school district reinstated the books after two committees ruled that they do not contain pedophilia or obscene material.
“It’s so outrageously offensive,” Stacy Langton, the Fairfax County mother who confronted the school board with images from the books in September, told Fox News in an interview on Tuesday, referring to the display at the library.
DML: Just can’t make this stuff up. Fairfax County parents, stand strong, and elect better school board members who will hire better people!
