Today is March 20 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion.
1. Russia Unkraine War Hits Stalemate Report Says
AXIOS – “The war in Ukraine has reached a stalemate after more than three weeks of fighting, with Russia making only marginal gains and increasingly targeting civilians,” the N.Y. Times writes.
That was the assessment yesterday from the Institute for the Study of War, a widely respected D.C. research group:
“Ukrainian forces have defeated the initial Russian campaign of this war,” the note says. “That campaign aimed to conduct airborne and mechanized operations to seize Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa, and other major Ukrainian cities to force a change of government in Ukraine.” That failed.
“Russian forces continue to make limited advances in some parts of the theater but are very unlikely to be able to seize their objectives in this way.”
DML: Stalemate doesn’t mean quiet. It doesn’t mean cease fire. It means it will get more bloody and deathly. Imagine a tornado that doesn’t move, it just takes out everything without any chance of escape. I have said since the outset of this war that China is the key to ending it all. If China tells Russia to stop, it will. But China wants to take over Taiwan, so do not expect it to end anytime soon.
2.Chinese official calls sanctions on Russia increasingly ‘outrageous’
Fox News – A senior Chinese government official said on Saturday that sanctions imposed by Western nations on Russia over Ukraine are increasingly “outrageous”.
Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng also acknowledged Moscow’s point of view on NATO, saying the alliance should not further expand eastwards, forcing a nuclear power like Russia “into a corner”.
China has yet to condemn Russia’s action in Ukraine or call it an invasion, though it has expressed deep concern about the war. Beijing has also opposed economic sanctions on Russia over Ukraine, which it says are unilateral and are not authorized by the U.N. Security Council.
DML: The sanctions will not work until the US sanctions China. I don’t understand why this is so hard for the world to understand. But then again, the entire world fell for the Covid scam. Keep in mind, while we are here at home dealing with woke liberals who want 5-year-olds to learn about transgender rights, China is building an empire that will one day swallow us whole.
3. North Korea fires multiple-rocket launcher, South Korea says
Reuters – North Korea appeared to have fired a short-range multiple rocket launcher on Sunday, South Korea’s military said, amid heightened military tensions on the peninsula after a spate of larger missile launches by the nuclear-armed North.
While they garner much less attention than the massive intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), North Korea has displayed several new types of multiple launch rocket systems in recent years, adding to an already large arsenal of artillery and rockets ideal for potentially striking targets in the South.
DML: The world is taking advantage of a weak leader in Biden. It’s like watching vultures chew on a dead body. 2024 cannot come fast enough.
4.Former Apple employee, 52, is charged with defrauding the tech giant out of more than $10MILLION
DailyMail — A former Apple employee has been charged with defrauding the tech giant out of more than $10 million by taking kickbacks, stealing equipment and laundering money, federal prosecutors said.
Dhirendra Prasad, 52, worked for ten years as a buyer in Apple’s Global Service Supply Chain department.
A federal criminal case unsealed Friday alleges that he exploited his position to defraud the company in several schemes, including stealing parts and causing the company to pay for items and services it never received.
DML: Apple knows a person’s every move, this guy was screwing with the wrong company. Crime never pays, 20 years in prison could be the price to pay.
5.CDC: Omicron variant BA.2 spreading rapidly across New York and New Jersey
CBS News -While some would like to think the coronavirus pandemic is behind us, a new form of the Omicron variant is rapidly spreading.
What’s known as BA.2 — a sub-lineage of Omicron — now makes up nearly a quarter of new COVID infections nationwide.
The CDC says it’s particularly a problem in New York and New Jersey, where 39% of the virus in circulation is BA.2.
It’s also dominating new case worldwide, and some countries are facing a renewed surge of infects, just as they move to lift pandemic restrictions.
DML: Fauci is back, and this time he’s going to be even more adamant about you getting the jab. I guess the media is getting bored with Ukraine / Russia.
