Biden’s mass migrant event coming, Pelosi’s bizarre poem, where’s Fauci… and more!
By Team DML
Today is March 18 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion.
1 – Biden administration is bracing for a ‘mass migrant event’ this spring that could see 170,000 border crossers ‘in HOURS’ and a spike in human trafficking when Trump’s Title 42 is dropped
The Daily Mail reports: The U.S. could be just hours away from another wave of mass migration if the Biden administration lifts Title 42, a provision border agents have relied on to quell the border crisis during the pandemic.
It comes as a new report shows more than 170,000 migrants are waiting on the Mexican-side of the U.S.-Mexico border to cross and claim asylum should the policy be lifted.
Estimates show many of these individuals are as little as hours away from the border – while others planning to migrate are within a few-days trip, an officials familiar with discussions told CNN.
It comes as reports emerged that Ukrainian refugees are being detained under the Title 42 expulsion provision.
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Thursday afternoon Border Patrol agents were reminded there are individualized exceptions to Title 42 that can be applied to Ukrainians arriving at the southern border.
DML: Magoo is pushing America straight off the cliff.
2 – Biden to phone China as economic tensions, security threats escalate
Fox Business reports: President Biden and China’s President Xi Jinping will speak by phone on Friday, as the two leaders weigh the others’ posture on a range of economic and security tensions that have been heightened following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
While the U.S. and China are adversaries, Americans’ appetite for low-cost Chinese goods and China’s dependence on U.S. buyers means the two countries are intertwined whether they like it or not. Despite any political rhetoric, disrupting trade relations between the two nations would damage the economies of both.
China’s cozy relationship with Russia has made the situation even more delicate.
The Biden administration is watching to see whether – or to what extent – China assists Russia in working around the crippling sanctions imposed by the U.S. and its NATO allies.
DML: Hopefully Magoo can at least remember who’s he’s talking to.
3 – ‘St. Patrick’s Name Is Now Zelensky’: Pelosi Bizarrely Reads Poem by Bono at Annual St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon
Breitbart reports: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) read a poem written by Irish rock star Bono that likened Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Saint Patrick at Thursday’s annual Friends of Ireland luncheon.
“I got this message this morning from Bono,” Pelosi said at the luncheon. She then claimed that Bono “has been a very Irish part of our lives.”
“Oh, Saint Patrick he drove out the snakes, with his prayers but that’s not all it takes. For the snake symbolizes an evil that rises and hides in your heart, as it breaks,” the poem read.
“And the evil has risen, my friends. From the darkness that lives in some men, but in sorrow and fear that’s when saints can appear, to drive out those old snakes once again,” Pelosi continued.
DML: Oh, help us.
4 – At least 51% of Americans support Florida’s so-called ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill that bans teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade, new poll finds
The Daily Mail reports: A new poll shows a slim majority of Americans in support of Florida’s so-called ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill that bans the teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity among children in grades kindergarten through three.
The bill, whose official title is HB1557 Parental Rights in Education bill, has passed both the Florida State House and Senate and awaits signature from Governor Ron DeSantis despite widespread protest from the LGBTQ+ community.
It bars instruction on ‘sexual orientation or gender identity’ in kindergarten through grade three. Introduced by two Florida lawmakers and backed by DeSantis, they say the bill’s aim is to ’empower parents’ in their children’s education, and make teachers recognize the distinction between ‘instruction’ and ‘discussion.’
The proposed law has proved controversial in Florida, where Disney workers are planning walkouts during their breaks every day this week to protest CEO Bob Chapek’s ‘slow response’ in publicly criticizing the law.
Disney has since bowed to left-wing pressure and halted all political donations in Florida in response to the legislation.
However, a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll of 2,005 registered voters saw them showing support for several items contained within the bill. When it came to ‘Banning the teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity from kindergarten through third grade’ 51 percent of respondents were in support, with 37 percent polled saying they ‘strongly support.’
DML: Anyone who opposes that bill needs to get their head checked.
5 – WATCH: We went looking for Dr. Fauci
The Washington Examiner reports: Dr. Anthony Fauci has been on quite the hiatus from his daily media appearances.
For close to two years, Americans could count on seeing Fauci every day on cable news expressing his recommendations regarding COVID-19.
We traveled to Bethesda, Maryland, home of the National Institutes of Health, to look for Fauci and hand out posters to those who live and work around the NIH, where Fauci serves as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
DML: Well, all kidding aside, it appears Fauci is back… and he’s declaring that if we see an increase in cases, we have to “be able to pivot and go back to” COVID restrictions. I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN.
