Audio of McCarthy, Obama rages about disinformation, Disney feels the pain, and much more…

Today is April 22 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion.
1 – More migrant buses hit DC as Abbott demands Biden address border crisis
Fox News reports: The ninth and tenth buses carrying migrants who entered the country through the southern border into Texas arrived in Washington, D.C., on Thursday night.
Gov. Greg Abbott’s controversial policy to bus migrants in Texas who volunteer to go to the nation’s capital came in response to President Biden’s decision to end Title 42, which allowed the U.S. to deny entry to migrants.
“By busing migrants to Washington, D.C., the Biden Administration will be able to more immediately meet the needs of the people they are allowing to cross our border,” Abbott said last week. “Texas should not have to bear the burden of the Biden Administration’s failure to secure our border.”
Ordalis Heras, 26, an asylum seeker from Venezuela who took one of the earlier buses to Washington, D.C., told the Texas Tribune she was grateful to Texas for the ride.
“We are very thankful for all the help that has been given to us. Frankly, we did not have the money to get here otherwise, so we are very thankful for the help,” she said after arriving in the capital. “From here on in, I think things will be better. I have hope that things will be better and that my children will have a better quality of life.”
DML: The only way this would make a major impact is if he was dropping off several thousand per day – just like they’re coming across the border.
2 – Audio: McCarthy said he would urge Trump to resign
The Associated Press reports: House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy told fellow GOP lawmakers shortly after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection that he would urge then-President Donald Trump to resign, according to audio posted by The New York Times and aired on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show .
In the recording of a Jan. 10 House Republican Leadership call posted by the Times Thursday night, McCarthy is heard discussing the Democratic effort to remove Trump from office and saying he would tell Trump, “I think it will pass and it would be my recommendation he should resign.”
It’s unclear whether McCarthy, who is in line to become House speaker if Republicans gain control during the fall midterm elections, followed through on his thinking or was merely spit-balling ideas shared privately with his colleagues in the aftermath of the deadly Capitol assault.
In the same conversation, McCarthy told his colleagues he doubted Trump would take the advice to step aside.
Earlier Thursday, after the Times published its initial story describing the conversation, McCarthy released a statement calling it “totally false and wrong.” His spokesman, Mark Bednar, had told the paper, “McCarthy never said he’d call Trump to say he should resign.”
DML: That audio is hard to argue with. Expect a statement from Trump coming soon.
3 – Obama says he has regrets surrounding disinformation in 2016 election
The Hill reports: Former President Barack Obama on Thursday said he still holds regrets for failing to see the rampant spread of disinformation within the U.S. while he was president, particularly around the 2016 election.
In a speech at Stanford University on the dangers of disinformation, Obama touched on the 2016 election, which U.S. intelligence has long confirmed Russia meddled in.
The former president said no one in his administration was surprised Russia had spread disinformation across social media platforms in an effort to sway the U.S. election, but he regretted not fully understanding how vulnerable America had become to such content.
“What does still nag at me though was my failure to fully appreciate at the time just how susceptible we had become to lies and conspiracy theories, despite having spent years being a target of disinformation myself,” Obama said, seeming to reference the racist and unfounded conspiracy theory that he was not born in the United States.
DML: Obama, the misinformation has been coming from YOU and YOUR people.
4 – DeSantis’ Office Releases Examples Of Rejected CRT-Inspired Math Textbooks
The Daily Caller reports: Florida’s Department of Education released examples of critical race theory in mathematics textbooks, including one book that claimed conservatives are more racially prejudiced than liberals, according to a press release.
Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office announced Monday that the state’s education department rejected 41% of the math textbooks for reportedly including “indoctrinating concepts” and Common Core standards, according to the Daily Caller News Foundation. Florida’s education department released examples of CRT material Thursday after they received multiple requests from the public to view the alleged controversial books, according to a press release.
“These examples do not represent an exhaustive list of input received by the Department,” the presser reads.
One textbook showed students a bar graph that measures racial prejudice by political identification. The graph shows that conservatives are reportedly more racist than liberals, citing data from the debunked Race Implicit Association Test.
A separate page highlighted the concept of “social-emotional learning,” which is steeped in the tenets of critical race theory.
DML: God bless DeSantis!
5 – Disney stock tumbles as parental rights controversy escalates in Florida
Fox Business reports: Disney is poised to rank among the worst-performing stocks in 2022 after the company became embroiled in a high-profile political controversy.
The stock reached an all-time high in March 2021, trading at nearly $200 per share. But it has been in free fall ever since. As the market closed Thursday, the stock was hovering near $120 per share – down roughly 33% from a year ago.
The company has been in the spotlight in recent weeks after it publicly opposed a bill Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed that prohibits classroom instruction on “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” with children in third grade or younger “or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”
The Florida House of Representatives passed a bill Thursday that would dissolve Walt Disney’s special governing power in the state, a move that could have huge tax implications for Disney, one of the state’s largest private employers with more than 60,000 workers. The bill now heads to DeSantis’ desk.
DML: Sorry Disney, you just bit the hand that fed you. Conservative parents don’t want woke Disney grooming their kids. If you listen to The Dennis Michael Lynch Podcast then you know that for years I’ve said the only way to stop the woke companies from being woke is by negativity impacting their earnings. Meaning, stop buying their goods and services. Finally, it appears to be happening. Netflix is feeling the pain after 200,000 people dumped subscriptions, and now woke Disney is getting crushed (rightfully so). The stock reached an all-time high in March 2021, trading at nearly $200 per share. But it has been in free fall ever since. As the market closed Thursday, the stock was hovering near $120 per share – down roughly 33% from a year ago. I’m expecting it to drop even more as earnings will likely show what I predict to be a mass exodus from their streaming service, and less merchandise sales, and a dip in park attendance.
What normal person wants to pay thousands of $ for his or her kid to be subjected to a radical environment filled with woke characters? I don’t know anyone who supports Disneys woke positions. The liberal, crazy thinking that we read about on Twitter should not be pushed onto our kids.
Be ready for more companies to feel the same pain as Disney and Netflix. And if you’re happy to see their decline remember this… don’t let off the gas until they change their ways.
What amazes me is how these companies alienate the key demographics that built their brands. Unwoke families have the valid credit cards. We have the values and money that companies like Disney rely on. Our lives matter. But they’ve forgotten us in every way. It’s more than their ugly tweets and radical staff / management. Just look at the actors they hire for the most recent commercials, and look at the stock photos used on their websites. People who look like me have been omitted. Why? Traditional families are largely omitted. Why? Inclusion is great, exclusion is insane. And the norm is being excluded.
It’s been years in the making, but finally the masses have had enough and the wokesters are feeling the squeeze. Amen.
