|Russia strikes Kyiv, shooting near GOP Gov. candidate’s home, Biden gives cell phones to illegals, and more…|

Today is October 10. Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.
1 – Russia strikes Kyiv, multiple Ukrainian cities, many dead
Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose forces invaded neighboring Ukraine on Feb. 24, said the strikes were retaliation for what he called Kyiv’s “terrorist” actions — a reference to Ukraine’s attempts to repel Moscow’s invasion force and cripple their supply lines.
The actions he referred to include an attack last weekend on a key bridge between Russia and the annexed Crimean Peninsula, which is prized by the Kremlin.
The intense, hours-long attack marked a sudden military escalation by Moscow in its attack on Ukraine. It came a day after Putin called the explosion Saturday on the huge bridge connecting Russia to its annexed territory of Crimea a “terrorist act” masterminded by Ukrainian special services.
MY TAKE: Putin is a TERRORIST, pure and simple.
2 – Two young men shot outside NY gov. hopeful Rep. Lee Zeldin’s Long Island home while twin daughters inside
“My daughters Mikayla and Arianna were doing homework on the first floor,” said Zeldin, who was not at the house in Shirley at the time. “They heard the shots. Boom! They went upstairs and locked themselves in the bathroom.
“They’re freaked out,” the congressman said of his 16-year-old girls. “One of the bullets was found 30 feet from where my daughters were doing their homework.”
Detectives are investigating the drive-by shooting as gang-related and were still looking for the gunman or gunmen, according to a law enforcement source.
MY TAKE: New York needs Zeldin to win this race now, more than ever. The city is turning into a war zone, and it will only get worse under Hochul.
3 – Biden’s DHS Gives Cellphones to over 255K Border Crossers, Illegal Aliens Released into U.S.
The data, published by DHS, reveals the extent to which the Biden administration has ballooned the size of the Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program to more easily and quickly released hundreds of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens into American communities.
Hundreds of thousands more border crossers and illegal aliens are released into the U.S. interior with only Notices to Appear (NTA) in federal immigration court at later dates. Federal data has long suggested that a tiny fraction of border crossers and illegal aliens end up having valid asylum claims.
The latest ATD figures show that from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022, Biden’s DHS gave cellphones to monitor more than 255,000 border crossers and illegal aliens. The phones are meant to be used so the agency can track their locations. The phones cannot be used to search the internet or make other calls.
The cost to American taxpayers is more than $360,000 every day.
MY TAKE: Just can’t make this stuff up, folks.
4 – Dem city council member says Navy’s iconic flight demonstration team shouldn’t fly over his city
District 5 Supervisor Dean Preston, a self-described Democratic socialist, said the planes should be banned from the city’s airspace.
“The Blue Angels should not be allowed to fly over San Francisco,” he wrote on Twitter. “That’s it. That’s the tweet.”
The Blue Angles ended up not soaring over San Francisco because their planned performance was canceled.
MY TAKE: That city councilman is a Democrat socialist. Tells you everything right there. Stop electing these anti-Americans into office!
5 – 18-year-old Marine recruit dies after collapsing during training
Pfc. Javier Pong “became unconscious and unresponsive” while “conducting scheduled training” on Sept. 27 at the base near San Diego, according to a Marine Corps statement Saturday. He died at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton.
Brig. Gen. Jason Morris, the commanding general of Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, said the Marines are investigating Pong’s death.
Pong was from Las Cruses, New Mexico, and graduated high school in May, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Marines didn’t immediately respond to the Union-Tribune’s questions about the type of training recruits were engaged in when Pong collapsed. Officials also didn’t say why they waited 11 days to announce the death.
MY TAKE: This young man should NOT have just collapsed and died!!
