DML Morning Briefing.
By Dennis Michael Lynch

Today is August 28. Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.

1.US sails warships through Taiwan Strait in 1st since Pelosi visit
(AP) — The U.S. Navy sailed two warships through the Taiwan Strait on Sunday, in the first such transit publicized since U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan earlier in August, at a time when tensions have kept the waterway particularly busy.

The USS Antietam and USS Chancellorsville are conducting a routine transit, the U.S. 7th Fleet said. The cruisers “transited through a corridor in the Strait that is beyond the territorial sea of any coastal State,” the statement said.

China conducted many military exercises in the strait as it sought to punish Taiwan after Pelosi visited the self-ruled island against Beijing’s threats.

China has sent many warships sailing in the Taiwan Strait and waters surrounding Taiwan since Pelosi’s visit, as well as sending warplanes and firing long-range missiles. It views the island as part of its national territory and opposes any visits by foreign governments as recognizing Taiwan as its own state.

DML: If you were China, and you wanted the US demolished, wouldn’t you see Joey Biden as the opportunity of a lifetime?  I want to stay positive, so I will remind myself that TODAY is my birthday.
2.Florida woman tries to beat DUI test by Irish folk dancing — and fails

NY POST – A Florida woman pulled over for alleged drunken driving performed an Irish folk dance for cops in an attempt to prove her sobriety, video shows.

Amy Harrington, 38, of Madeira Beach, rear-ended another vehicle about a mile away from her home on April 27, cops told WFLA. When Pinellas County deputies arrived, officers said her eyes were bloodshot and watery.

Harrington tried to walk a straight line during a sobriety test along a parking space marker when she gave up and started dancing, the video, which emerged Saturday, showed.

DML: I will admit, the video made me laugh.  But DUI is not a joke, people die from that sort of thing.  Shame on her for not being more responsible.  Are you responsible? Did you take your DML CBD today?  BOGO sale going on now, last day!  DMLcbd.com

3.Republican Senators challenge immigration rule change on terrorist support
The Hill -Ten Republican Senators sent a letter to members of the Biden administration this week demanding an explanation for a rule change that will allow some individuals who have materially supported terrorist organizations to immigrate to the U.S.

“We write because the American people deserve an explanation regarding the broad, open-ended nature of this authority for exempting individuals who would otherwise be barred from immigration to the United States for supporting a terrorist organization,” Sen. Bill Hagerty (Tenn.) and his colleagues wrote wrote in the letter addressed to Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The June 8 determination by the Departments of Homeland Security and State announced that people who have provided “insignificant” or “limited” material support to terrorist organizations in the past will no longer be barred from immigration.

The Secretaries of the two departments have authority to exempt some from federal prohibitions on the immigration of people linked to terrorist activity.

DML: Why is this so difficult for DC idiots to understand. Stop all immigration until we can get our act together. It’s the only choice! I would be such a great president, but for now I have to be a great champion for closed borders and limited immigration. This stuff makes me want to lose my head, but then I take DMLcbd and I feel great again. Did I mention to BOGO at DMLcbd.com ends today?

4.Mayor urges residents to flee ahead of rising river waters in Mississippi
(CNN) With Mississippi’s Pearl River now expected to crest earlier than originally forecast, threatening to flood streets and creep into homes within the next 48 hours, some Jackson residents are being told to flee.

Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba urged residents to “get out now,” during a news conference Saturday.
Authorities earlier predicted the Pearl River to reach 36 feet and crest by Tuesday after record-setting rainfall in recent days, however the river is now expected to crest late Sunday through Monday evening before slowly lowering.DML: Praying for those folks.
5. DML Facebook LIVE
I did a Facebook LIVE last night from the resort where Mary and I are celebrating our birthdays.  Here’s why…So, we are sitting in the outside bar lounge area and it’s empty (too hot in Keys at night).  A guy walks into the lounge and sits down at the piano.  He starts blasting out songs, and he is incredible.  I ask if he is a pro, in a band, etc?  He says, “No.”  But then he plays me a song he has written and it’s amazing.  So, I do a Facebook LIVE.  My cell phone is cracked so there’s a bit of a whistle but overall it’s a fun video if you piano music and hearing me sing. The video is on my Facebook Page.  I tried to embed the video but it didn’t work. The link to the video (click here).  Photo below is of Jay playing.

MY PARTING WORDS: Don’t be silly, do not miss the last site-wide BOGO until late November.  It ends today.  And I want to thank everyone who has wished Mary and me a happy birthday.  We’ve had a lovely time together this weekend, it was much needed.  Below is from last night, we took a sunset cruise (but without the sunset).  Also below is an Instagram post — we had breakfast in bed. BOGO Dmlcbd.com
