Top 30 Small Business Ideas For Beginners In 2020

Product / Business Reviewer.

Startups or individuals usually look for people who can write reviews for their products or services to encourage the audience to make a purchase. If you love to write and looking for online business ideas, then this can be a great option. You can either get started with a profile on freelancing websites or contact companies directly.
You can write reviews for them in exchange for a monetary reward by becoming an influencer. Even better, if you have your own website or a blog, you can write a post about their products.
Its highly recommended to read some studies, guides & blogs before trying your hand in product/business reviewing. Here are a few examples of good review websites where one can participate : thewirecutter.com, blazereviews.com, topreviewedten.com.

What Makes a Good Review?

  • Proper spelling and grammar. I cannot stress this enough as you want brands to see you as professional.
  • Diplomacy. If you honestly dislike a product, don’t be rude and bash it. Be honest but kind, and share why you were disappointed.
  • Be Helpful. Try to answer questions you may have had about the product, or share a trick you learned when you used the product.
  • Photos and Videos. Videos in some cases they are very good to have, if you have a YouTube account, all the better!. Take clear photos of you using the product or product features that you like or dislike.
  • Contact the Company. If you end up with a product that you cannot in good conscience leave a 3 star or higher review reach out to the brand first and see if they can fix it. Then once you write your review you will also be able to state how the company handled the issue. Very very helpful info for other buyers.
  • Disclose! Per FTC (Federal Trade Commission) you must tell others if you received a discount or got the item free in exchange for a review. Honesty is the best policy always.

Are you wondering how to get paid to review products at home?

Yes, you can get paid to test products for FREE! Top Brands need people like you to review their new products not yet on the market.  And, for your feedback, you’ll be paid by:

  • Cash
  • Gift Cards
  • Merchandise

I’ve been testing products for cash, gift cards, and merchandise for the past 11 years, and love doing it! It has become my full-time job now. I get about 4 to 5 full-size products and sample products to review a month. I’m getting the first exclusive look at up and coming products not yet on the market. Also, I am able to test new products for free and keep the products too!
I’ve tested, Electronics, Toys, Food Products, Beauty Products, Household Products, Baby Products, Adult Products, Clothes, Websites, and so much more!

Why Does Brands Need Consumers to Join their Paid Product Testing Studies?

The reason for paid product testing is that brands would like to know what consumers think about their newest products they’re developing to be sent to stores, but before they do that they need consumers like you to give their opinions.  Having consumers giving insights about the brand’s new product development will help them save time and money just in case the product doesn’t do well, needing required changes.

How Does Product Testing Work? How Can You Become a Product Tester?

First, you’ll need to sign up with a market research firm that offers product testing at home (Product Testing Panels List is Below). Once you do this, the market research firm will send you screener emails to fill out to see if you’ll qualify for their current product test jobs.
When you fill out their screener survey, they’ll let you know at the end if you are eligible or not. For example, let say the brand is looking for people to test out their new makeup, if you don’t use cosmetic products then you won’t qualify. If you do, then you’ll be eligible for the product testing job.
Once you get the approval to test, the brand will ask for your address to send you the product to evaluate for a week or two. Then, they’ll follow up with you with an email asking for feedback about the product you’ve tested. When you’re done, you get paid! WOO HOO! Simple right?

What’s great is that you can test products and keep them too! So, test products, keep it, and get paid! A win-win!!  You’ll feel good that you had a voice and played a part in the latest product creation.
How much you get paid varies. I’ve been paid anywhere from $3-$500. There was a time I tested a website in beta format for HBO (now called HBO-GO), and they paid me $100 for doing it! All I had to do is test out their website, watch movies, then give my feedback. Easy money!
So when you register, make sure to fill out your profile, that’s a critical step to your success in testing products. You’ll get the proper product testing opportunities that fit your demographic.

Steps on Becoming a Successful Product Tester

1. Create an email dedicated to your product testing invitations, so you’ll not miss an opportunity to test products from leading brands. I like to use Gmail for my emails. Also, when you sign up for a market research panel, make sure you confirm your membership.
2. Complete product testing surveys as soon as possible before invite fills up and no longer needs new people for their product testing assignment.
3. Always tell the truth! Brands need truthful people to evaluate their products. If you lie, companies will not know if they need to make any improvements to their products. Also, you can get yourself removed from their program, and not get paid.
4. Do not speed through a survey that the brands send you. Product testing Panels could not use your survey if they noticed that you rushed through it. Your inquiry will look like your answers are untruthful and cannot be used which will lead you to get removed from program and money you earned is forfeited.
5. Sign up for more than one product testing program. The more product testing websites you sign up for, the more chances of being invited to join current product testing campaigns.
6. Always fill out your demographic information with each product testing website you’re signed up with. This helps market research firms know which product testing surveys are better suited for you, and more than likely you’ll qualify for.
7. Never expose information about new products you’ve seen on a survey to anyone. That can lead you getting kicked out the program and forfeiting your payment.

Wrapping Up…

Choosing a business is totally a personal decision. You may find a lot of other possibilities, but coming up with some small business ideas that yield higher profits is little tricky. So, choose your passion from the above list and turn your dream into reality.
